The annual Popcorn fundraiser will begin in August, and Ashley Lockwood has volunteered to serve a Troop Popcorn Kernel!  But she will need a co-kernel(s) to help promote the sale and educate kids/parents as this is more than a one-person job.

And we still need to hear from you as to how you'd like to participate:
- door-to-door via the app
- storefront via the app
- storefront with product.

Please fill out the survey this week below so we can plan our fundraising activities.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) - Summer or Fall Session

Posted on Jul 25 2021 - 10:10am

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

NYLT training is a two weekend (Spring or Fall) or one full week (summer) training that prepares older scouts for roles in Troop Leadership.

Ideally, all scouts will have the opportunity to go through this course so they are all prepared to take on the higher leadership roles in the Troop such as Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Quartermaster, Quartermaster, Troop Guide, Den Chief…

Scouts must be 13 years old and First Class to participate. Scouts must also have served in the Troop as Patrol Leader or Assistant Patrol Leader AND taken the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) course that the Scoutmaster leads at the beginning of their term.  Therefore, many scouts in Llamas, Phoenix, Fox, Vikings, Wolverines are eligible and encouraged to attend.

Three sessions of NYLT are offered each year: two weekends in the spring, one full week in the summer, and two weekends in the fall.

2021 courses offered are:
4/9-4/11 and 4/23-4/25 Camp Kikthawenund

6/13-6/19 Camp Krietenstein

9/10-9/12 and 9/24-9/26 Camp Kikthawenund

If your scout is eligible, consider signing your scout up for these courses this year.  And RSVP on the Troop Calendar so that the Troop can grant the scout credit, and so other families know you intend to go which may encourage more participation from friends.

The cost is $260, but scholarships are available (Due 5/15 for Summer and 8/1 for Fall).

Popcorn Fundraiser 2021

Posted on Jul 14 2021 - 8:01am

At our recent ILST Youth Leadership Training in June, the scouts added fundraising to the Start column.  And nearly all of the scouts said they were interested and willing to participate in Popcorn sales in order to pay for their scouting adventures.  So the youth are interested and motivated in earning money! Yet, we've only heard from a handful of adults regarding level of interest in fundraising.

Please fill out the survey this week below so we can plan our fundraising activities. Unit commitments and store front signups are due in

Adult Leader Training - Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS) and Wood Badge

Posted on Jul 4 2021 - 9:07am

As families flow in and out of the Troop we have a constant need for new Adult Leaders.
Some roles are behind the scenes: paperwork for rechartering and health forms, specific event organization, quartermaster/gear organization/cleaning/maintenace, fundraisers, etc
Some roles are up in front of the scouts teaching skills and recording advancement: Assistant Scoutmaster, Merit Badge Counselor, Eagle Coach.
We also need parents to attend outings and help carpool (this can be on rotation) and at least one parent per Patrol to act as “Patrol Parent” to assist the Patrol and coordinate their needs such as carpooling to events, shopping for outings, etc.

As the Troop is made up solely of volunteers, we request that all families find a role that suits them and all roles require training.

Every Adult requires Youth Protection Training (YPT) to be renewed every 2 years.  YPT is available online.

Other trainings such as IOLS and Wood Badge are in person trainings offered a few times each year.
